Okay, so last time I posted I asked you guys what you would like to see more of in terms of photos. To my surprise the most popular response was that photos of our area of the world would be preferable since people who don’t live where we do would like to see more of what it’s like here.
First of all, thank you to everyone who left a comment, it’s much appreciated!  Secondly, when I think about it, I can completely relate to wanting to see other parts of the world.  When I went to live in Ireland, I was almost awestricken at how beautiful the landscape and the architecture were.  What always weirded me out was how no one else seemed to notice or even appreciate their surroundings simply by virtue of the fact that they saw it everyday.
Going out and taking photos specifically to show off the sights and common features of our area really gave me a new eye for where we live. Â It’s unfortunate that we so often ignore that which is right around us simply because it’s too easily accessible. Â So thanks for helping me be a little more grateful that we live where we do.
And now I’ll get off my soapbox and show you some pictures. Â We have a lot of natural conservation areas near where we live, which means it’s always less than an hour drive to be able to get out into the forest and go for a hike if you’re so inclined.

29 Aug 2012 at 4:12 pmThat Looks Lovely! I have family in Brantford, Ontario, so I love to see what other parts of the province looks like. I am very curious though , I’m a Dalkey/Dún Laoghaire Girl myself, where in Ireland were you living?

29 Aug 2012 at 4:35 pmI was right in Dún Laoghaire for the duration of my stay actually!
Some of my fondest memories are of walks I used to take down by the harbour at night. It was great because you couldn’t really see the cranes, (Not sure if they’re still all over the skyline, but they were back in ’08.) but the city lights and the various boats on the sea were beautiful.

25 Aug 2012 at 10:21 amI know EXACTLY what you mean. Being an Oregonian, I oftentimes forget how lucky I am to be surrounded by so many trees and so close to the ocean. Cory and I are actually going to the beach today! Neither of us have been in over a year which is pathetic seeing as though it’s only about an hour away.

25 Aug 2012 at 11:35 amWe also have a beach an hour away but we haven’t been in… ever. No joke. Perhaps we should plan a trip…

25 Aug 2012 at 11:36 amI can heartily recommend going around and taking photos of your area. It makes you find the nicer things and focus on them, and even if you don’t like where you are, it might give you a moment of reprieve.

25 Aug 2012 at 8:56 amyou guys live such a beautiful area – we were only talking today about ‘playing tourist’ locally, actually spending time just looking around rather than rushing about the place.
