One of my resolutions this year was to make at least twelve home movies, which has left me aiming for one a month. Back when I had my first digital camera, a Canon Powershot S3 IS, I made videos all the time. I couldn’t stop putting my adventures to music. But then I lost video capability when I upgraded to my first SLR, and my videos fell by the way side. If I wanted to do video I’d have to remember to bring my old point and shoot and then my purse was suddenly the same weight as a small child. Needless to say, it didn’t take long for me to ditch that. A year or so ago we brought home a little Flip video camera so that we could start making home movies again, and this year I’m determined. So I thought you’d like to go on a midnight stroll in the snow with us. It was -12°C, by the way, so we were really cold. I hope you enjoy this as much as we enjoyed filming it.

31 Jan 2013 at 11:46 amSeeing how happy you are together makes me smile. And makes me want to subject my husband to home videos. 🙂 You might not like writing about really personal stuff, but have you written how you and your husband met? It seems like an interesting story from the hints here and there. I haven’t been reading your blog that long though, so maybe you did talk about it and it’s buried in the archives somewhere. Anyway, thanks for sharing. 🙂

26 Jan 2013 at 4:58 pm“Sexy legs!” Haha! Gahhhh, you guys are the cutest. It’s been snowing here too, but most of it is just slush now, which is not so pretty. Looking forward to seeing more of your home movies soon!

30 Jan 2013 at 8:37 amHaha, when I was originally editing the video I thought- “How on earth am I going to end this?”, and I usually edit from beginning to end so I had already picked the song I wanted and was getting towards the end and then I saw that clip and it made me laugh so I left it.

30 Jan 2013 at 8:39 amThanks, Alyssa! This horrible thing happens whenever Tom points a camera at me- I get this ridiculous grin on my face. It’s funny at times but it’s so hard when I’m trying to do things like take serious photos. Sometimes I think I’ll try taking outfit posts like an awesome fashion blogger and Tom goes to take the shots and immediately I melt into DORKFACE.

26 Jan 2013 at 11:05 amI love the video! I am sad that Flips have been discontinued. I took mine with me when I lived in Italy and have sooo many videos that I love to watch from my time there. I need to film more, but the videos take up so much space!
I’ve been meaning to ask, how do you store your videos/photos? I’m thinking of turning my backup drive into a working drive and clearing space on my sad little Macbook Pro

30 Jan 2013 at 8:49 amMe too! I was doing research for an affordable cam I could just drop in my purse and then I heard they were discontinued. For some reason though I was still able to pick one up at our local shop.
To answer your computer storage question, I have some space on my hard drive and 2 back up drives. I save all my photos/videos for the year on my computer and then again on one back up drive. Then around autumn time I start going through each folder and deleting the photos I don’t want/duplicates, etc and move the remaining things over to the second back up drive, which has every previous year on it. I’d LIKE to also burn things to blu-ray disk- but that’s because I’m paranoid and have had two hard drive failures in my lifetime.

Sara
30 Jan 2013 at 8:51 amThe snow here seems to fluctuate. There will be lots of it and it’s below freezing, and then days like today where it is all melted and super warm outside.
