The Friendliest Dog In Ireland

Hey, that’s not a dog, you’re probably thinking. Well, you’re absolutely right. (The dog is at the end.) But there’s a funny story behind this cow. At first you might think that this is just an average blurry photo of a cow peeking her head over a wall. (Is any photo of such a description average? Probably not.) I assure you, there is nothing average about this ninja cow. That’s right. I wish the moment had been caught on video. I was trying to photograph a detail of the stone wall I mentioned in the last post. But then this ninja cow pokes her head up from out of nowhere and startles me so badly that I blindly snapped while trying to back up. Yeah, you almost had me, ninja cow. Almost.

This dog was so adorable. He reminded me so much of my mother’s first dog. He followed us around the entire island of Inis Oírr and then boarded our ferry when we tried to leave. He stood on the pier as the ferry pulled away and after anxiously running back and forth he stood looking heartbroken. (It broke my heart, too.)

i was just looking through your ireland trip which made me very nostalgic about mine a few years ago…at one point i was in killarney and my friends were climbing a big hill, but i was not wearing good shoes so i waited at the bottom and a friendly dog ran up to me, which is huge because dogs don’t like me. they never come near me. this dog was so stinky though but i was so happy that a dog came up to me that i pet it anyways. i remember the tag said ‘rosie’. there must be something in the water there with all these friendly dogs 🙂

Aw poor doggy. I hope the ninja cow befriended him. Maybe they could fight crime together or something

When I saw the first photo, of course I thought: biggest damn dog I’ve ever seen.

The story about the cow made me laugh in real life! The puppy story, however, was so sad – what a sweet little dog. 🙁 Geez, Sarah, your blog is such an emotional rollercoaster!!!!! (No but really – you do have the most touching blog ever!)

And by “last photo” I totally though the dog and Tom were one photo – the site hadn’t finished loading apparently? ><

I looove the story of the cow. Hahaha. That’s awesome. I now dream of having a wild cow do the same to me. She is so beautiful. And that last photo of the dog is breath-taking.
