Humans by nature avoid change, and I am no different, when it comes to bigger things anyway. But I’ve always needed to change it up when it comes to my living space, and now that I’m actually sitting here thinking about it I think I get this from my mum. Every time I come home to visit it seems like the furniture has been rearranged and moved to new spaces. I find this kind of change absolutely refreshing and I could never understand how my grandmother (bless her heart) could have her house in exactly the same order, with the same decorations, for 25+ years. Seriously, I think that would drive me absolutely batty. (This is probably why I have died my hair every color under the sun at least once.) I have spring, summer, autumn, and winter decorations that help me change my surroundings at least a little, but I’ve lately the urge to rearrange the apartment has been overwhelming. Unfortunately it’s kind of hard in an apartment (at least ours) because the space is pretty well set up for where your things will be, and only in those places. (Because of outlet placements, phone jacks, etc.)
But Tom and I decided to change it up anyway. Our couch set came with a loveseat that didn’t really fit in the living room space, so it’s been stuck in the corner of the apartment since day one, and we draped the cats’ favorite comforter over it and dubbed it the kitty corner. Turns out they don’t use it as much as the cat tree, laps, or the other couches anyway. (Gee, we set up a whole area for them and they never use it!) So we swapped the kitchen table and chairs for the couch! We both absolutely love it, though neither of us are sure if we actually prefer it this way, or if we’re just excited to see the change. What do you think?
I had my oatmeal today sitting on the comfortable love seat watching life move about fifteen stories below, and it was awesome. Next week I’m taking on the bedroom.
Photos 1-4 were all 4 photo stitch with the 35mm, and the last photo was taken by Tom. (Thanks Tom!)

BUT from an outsiders perspective, it looks much better!

15 Mar 2012 at 12:24 pmI really like the way you arranged it. I would love to have such a huge window and probably I would as well place a couch or a comfy lounger next to it. I love a nice space to stay with a lot of daylight lighting it up.
Mostly I rearrange my room when I’m sick. I don’t know what’s the matter with me instead of lying in bed and rest, pushing furniture around. ^^

15 Mar 2012 at 12:23 pmI think it looks fantastic! Seems to really let things flow. I’m the same way. I need a little bit of change every now and then. I often change things up with artwork.
