Last Saturday Tom and I went to his mother’s to celebrate his grandmother’s birthday. Dinner was set for seven, and we ended up staying until around eleven! The food was delicious (especially the steak, ho hum) and I really enjoy spending time with Janet (Tom’s mum) and her husband Brian. We’ve only been able to go out a few times with them and it’s always a delight catching up.

Janet is a wonderful cook, and a healthy one at that! She uses whole wheat flour and tons of other organic ingredients (she even makes her own salad dressing without vinegar) and everything tastes so delicious! I didn’t have any of the salmon, but Tom tells me he was delighted by the taste. And we were both pleasantly surprised by how well Brian grilled the steak.

For dessert was apple tort, your choice of ice cream, and raspberry brownie cake. Well! I had, and loved, the apple torte. I enjoyed my strawberry ice cream. But I had one bite of the raspberry brownie and let Tom eat the rest. (Surprise surprise.)

DAMN YOU BROWNIES! Why can’t I enjoy you!? You look so good, and I try you every time, but I never succeed!!
