Reminisce – Film Style Actions

title

For those of you that visit this blog for reasons unrelated to photo-processing (HI!) I apologize in advance for postponing the Spurred project to announce this release. For those of you that have been patiently waiting the last few months for the film actions- The wait is over! I’m happy to release Reminisce, a collection of 22 Film Style Actions (11 Subtle Film Styles & 11 Potent Film Styles), 6 Essentials Actions, and 3 Bonus Helper Actions. On Thursday of last week I decided I promised some of you I’d have them out by Christmas and I really wanted to keep that promise. So I’ve been glued to Photoshop ever since, but I wouldn’t rest until I felt everything was as perfect as it could be. I am positively in love with this collection and have been using it every day (as you’ve probably noticed), and I hope you love it as much as I do. You can visit the Reminisce page for more details and a slightly goofy video mini-tour of the action set.

Happy Holidays!

The Great White Pokey Maze

Hello again, everyone! Atlas here, and I wanted to take some time today to tell you about my latest exploration adventure. It took several grueling cat months, which is probably something like twenty human minutes, for me to fully explore and conquer what we cats call the Great White Pokey Maze. Like the tide, it’s only just right for exploring every so often, so you really have to take advantage of it when it’s there. It’s great exercise and every every time I try it I learn something new. For example, there are two tiers, and my head sadly does not fit through to the top.

What adventures have you been on lately?

Farewell & Adventure On,
Your Friend
Atlas the Explorer

PS: Sara would like me to mention that these photos were processed using her new film style action set, which she has been working tirelessly on non-stop (and neglecting me!!!) but she is happy that they will be released on Monday. She used “Hawthorn” and “Make It Potent”, whatever that means!

Dancing Wings Conservatory

I’ve been working on a new film-style action set for a few months now, but it’s getting to the point where I feel like I’m pretty close to releasing them. I initially had a goal set to release them this week so they could be out before Christmas, but I’m not sure I’ll make it in time. I have some other work to finish up for another client before I can really let loose on these. However, there’s no reason why I can’t show you some photos processed with them! A few weekends ago Tom and I went to visit friends we met online a few years ago, and during our wonderful stay we visited the Dancing Wings Conservatory! If you happen to like butterflies, you can see photos from another garden Tom and I visited earlier this year here and here. Enjoy!

Where I Talk About Stuff That Isn’t Even Pictured

Today is our the annual fire alarm testing in our building, aka The Day Of Great Disturbing, in which the cats and I hide in the office with the door closed huddled in corners and wearing earmuffs, respectively, while the fire alarm goes off every few seconds for most of the day.

I feel like I should go take a walk or something but I think I’d feel terribly guilty leaving the cats to huddle together in the office without me. Also, you may have noticed, but I finally finished updating my site design. Everything is now integrated and for the most part everything went smoothly. A few of my thumbnails are missing, but as far as complications go it could be a lot worse! I really like this new design and I feel it makes my old one look like it was made in the 90s. I hope you like it too! And, of course, I hope you have a great Monday and enjoy this Spurred update.

Innocent” July 11th (Day 192)

It’s time to go grocery shopping. We pull out a few bags from the closet. We grab our sungless and shoes and get ready to go. As we start to leave we realize that we have a stow-away in one of the bags. Gotcha.

No, I’m afraid you can’t come with us, Pumpkin.

Need” July 12th (Day 193)

Growth” July 13th (Day 194)

Solution” July 14th (Day 195)

Whenever I am feeling too busy, it always helps me to take a walk to and just enjoy my surroundings.

Redsign” July 16th (Day 196)

For our wedding, Tom and I had registered own website so people could RSVP online, print out directions, etc. Afterward, I couldn’t bare to part with the domain so Tom and I decided we’d turn it into a personal hub where we could post photos of the wedding for our family to see.

Unfortunately, I haven’t even finished those yet. One of the downsides of being a professional photographer is that your stuff comes last in the list of things to-do.

Scar” July 17th (Day 197) & “Two Roads” July 18th (Day 198)

Scar: Had every intention of photographing one of my scars (I have one on my forehead) but liked this instead.
Two Roads: Strawberry, orange, green tea smoothie or water with lemon? Choices, choices.

Illusion” July 19th (Day 199)

I love it when photographs look like watercolor.

Moving The Cat Tree

When the cats came home from over the border we brought home a huge cat tree as a “welcome home” gift. It’s been in the office with us right by the window ever since, and they use it all the time. But we got a new tree this year and I really wanted to put it in the office so you could see it from the window, and also because I think it looks really swell as the centerpiece to our apartment. But, where to move the cat tree? We could put it by the window in the kitchen, but then we’d have cat hair all over the table, and I like to pretend we don’t have a lot already. So I thought I would put it by the bookshelf, which is directly across from the office. Well, Atlas and Pumpkin had fun riding the cat tree like a boat as I pushed it around and across the apartment. And, well, maybe I did it a few extra times across the kitchen floor just because they seemed like they were having such a good time. But Morn didn’t like it over there, so I moved it to a tiny corner in the living room, right next to our solarium and they love it. I always forget that cats do like some change. I think about the toys they get tired of if we leave them out all the time. (However, if we bring them out once and a while, and alternate, they go crazy!) And if you bring home a new box they’re in heaven! Morn is sleeping there right now, and I actually prefer the tree there because I can look up and see them all the time from when I’m working. And they can’t seem to get enough of it. All in all, I’d say the move was a success.

Happy Caturday!
