Strawberry (Or Any Fruit) Mayo

While at Bronwyn’s, Brendan made some strawberry mayo for our sandwiches. I know what you’re thinking. What? How on earth could strawberry mayonnaise be any good? And how on earth is it supposed to go well with your delicious tomato, lettuce, whatever-else sammich? Well, believe it or not, it probably will compliment your sandwich. And it’s scrumptious. And I’m not just saying it is because I love strawberries. I tried it with peaches this afternoon and it was still as good. It’s really easy, but still worth sharing.

What To Do

  • Get two or three strawberries, or half a peach, or a few raspberries, or a mix of a few even! (You get the idea!)
  • Slice them up really well and microwave them for a minute or two until they’re soft and easy to mush.
  • Take your vegenaise*, mayo, kewpie, etc and add your desired amount to the strawberries and blend!
  • Spread, enjoy, and devour!
  • *Those of you who rolled your eyes at the Vegenaise, TRY IT. It’s actually “creamier” than mayonnaise, if that were possible! I was surprised.

True about the Veganaise being thicker and creamier than regular mayo, but you forgot to mention that the flavor is so off-base from the regular stuff! It’s better than most vegan mayos, which literally make my stomach churn from their overly tofu-y flavor, but still, there’s something quite not right about it. Or maybe my palette is overly sensitive since I’m an unabashed mayo-a-holic.

Regardless, Imma have to try this. I love wacky food combos!

@Dani: There’s a few things I’ve learned over the years but one of the most important is to always trust Brendan in the kitchen. Try it!

Yeah I’m not even vegetarian and I enjoy that stuff.

I’m very skeptical about having strawberry Veganaise on a tomato sandwich, but I won’t knock it until I try it. It’s so easy. Thanks for sharing!

PS: Vegenaise is totally awesome, to uphold Sara’s statement.
