Bath Time

Sara and I bought some cat shampoo many months ago and never really got around to using it mostly because– well, have you ever given a cat a bath? Yeah. That’s why.

Also, our three hellions are all indoor cats, so they don’t have much opportunity to get seriously dirty or covered in all sorts of undesirable pests. (Though Atlas does try his best to get into the fireplace when he’s bored.)

However, today the fire alarm went off in our building (Someone had left the stove on.) and Sara had to take the cats down by herself as I wasn’t home at the time.

We have three cat carriers, but as Sara has only two hands, that wasn’t really workable, so she had to put Morn and Atlas into one cat carrier. The thing about that is that when Atlas leaves the house he gets scared. And when Atlas gets scared, he pees himself.

So, needless to say, him and Morn needed to have a bath after we got back into our apartment. Which was perfect because how often do you get to take super high quality pictures of your cat soaking wet? (Morally speaking, I mean. I suppose I could soak them just for a photo-op but that feels cruel.)

We made sure to give them some Catnip so that they weren’t too upset. Honestly though, if I were a cat and I got torn from my home, peed on and then soaked to the bone, I’d throw the Catnip back in your face. Luckily they aren’t as, well… catty …as I am.

    Poor miserable adorable little kitties!

Also I am glad that your apartment is OK!

  • Kathryn

they both look pretty adorable wet :)

The Three Whisketeers

Hello friends! It’s been a while since I made a blog post, but Sara & Tom are out doing their laundry so I decided I could say a quick hello and share some photos! Atlas, Pumpkin, and I have been pestering Sara for ages to let us set up a blog just for us, but she kept saying saying she was far too busy to maintain it. I promised her the three of us could and would handle it ourselves, and she finally gave in! We’ve had an Instagram account for a week or so and today she set us up our very own Facebook page (“Like” us to get our updates on your feed, or if you don’t have Facebook, you can follow us via RSS too!) We’d love it if you shared photos of your feline friends on our wall, or if your felines use the computer (or instagram) we’d love to hear from them!

Have a great weekend and Happy Caturday!

    Loooove your cat <3<3<3
    beautiful shots :) )

I love the Three Whisketeers! My favorite thing about these are the photos taken from kitty angle. I like to get down on the floor sometimes and pretend I’m Leonardo to see how he experiences his world. It looks so different!. But in that case I usually get distracted by how filthy the lower levels are….

A Walk With Morn

A few weeks ago I took Sara for a walk. The last time I went out, the four of us went together and I guided Tom and Pumpkin was supposed to guide Sara, except that he got too scared and in the end Tom and I went outside while Sara held a trembling Pumpkin who watched from behind a window. I gave him a really hard time about it but I could see why it was a little scary this time.

We waited in the lobby of the apartment and I just watched outside for a bit. There were lots of people coming and going and it was pretty windy, too.

I’ll admit, I was pretty scared at first.

But I got comfortable pretty fast.

After ten minutes or so I was tuckered out and ready to head back inside.

  • Jennifer

Aww, sounds like Morn has a good time. I love it when people take cats out for walks. I wish I’d trained mine to do so.

  • Peregrine

Absolutely adorable! None of my cats would ever be coaxed into a harness. It’s nice to see Morn out exploring ^_^

Morn The Cat Mattress

Pumpkin thinks sometimes that it’s okay to use other creatures as couches. Especially me. And Sara’s face. I pretend that I am annoyed sometimes, but I really enjoy the company and am always excited when he comes over. He keeps me nice and warm. And I get to feel like a big brother. Also, I think these photos will help Sara or Tom realize that it’s time to put a new cat toy up on the cat tree. We’ve pretty well worn out the old one. (Maybe you can help remind her?)

  • Swan

Awwww, so precious! Adorable photos. I especially love the one of their tails. Cute :)
My cat isn’t so nice around other animals (and most people).

  • woody914

    Very sharply taken cute cats!

Shadowing Pumpkin

Tom and Sara aren’t here right now, which is kind of weird because they’re always here on Saturday mornings. They are currently helping Alice’s person move into the city. They wouldn’t let me come, though. I told them I could help them move, especially Alice’s things (if Alice would let me near her things) but they said that I need to stay and watch the house (and Pumpkin because he gets really lonely.) But in her rush, Sara forgot all about Caturday, so I figured I’d step in and be a hero. So today we have some photos I took while following Pumpkin around and stuff.

Pumpkin has taken to cuddling up under Sara’s desk since she works there during the day and so she put one of the cat beds there for him. He seems to like it! (I am taking this photo from her chair, just so you know!)

The cat tree! (Pumpkin’s up there, you see!)

Hi Pumpkin!

And these last ones Sara took last week. Happy Caturday, everyone! (I can’t wait till Sara gets home and sees I saved her Caturday! She’ll probably shower with me snuggles and treats and call me “King Morn” like she does when she’s really pleased with me.)

Have a puuurrrfect weekend, friends.

  • Bronwyn

Oh Morn, Alice plays very hard-to-get. She’s also a little put out because her things consisted of a single food bowl! Her big sister and Aspen ate everything! We’re thinking of getting a cat tree much like yours so she can play and watch the birds and you and your brother do. :)

    (THANKS YOU GUYS!)

In Which Catnip Ruins Everything

Hello readers, it’s Morn here. Sara mentioned to me that someone actually requested I update my blog! I was so excited that I spent all week trying to think of ideas of what to share with you. At first I thought I would share photos that I’ve been taking recently, but then that seemed unfair. (It’s mostly experimental stuff anyway.) And THEN I thought I would do a tutorial on tips for self portraits, but Sara tells me she’s working on that series herself. Finally, this morning it hit me. While Tom and Sara are still sleeping, Pumpkin and I (with the help of Paddington) decided to share a few of our favorite things! Our secret hiding spots, our favorite toys… but then we accidentally brought out the catnip first. I thought I would just have a little lick, but… well, you know. I couldn’t help myself. And then we were rolling around in catnip, effectively ruining any chances we had of actually accomplishing what we set out to do. Oh well. I took some pretty awesome timer self portraits, though! (Ahem.)

The only downside to catnip is that it makes Pumpkin sleepy and me hyper so I have nobody to play with until Tom and Sara wake up.

Play with me?

Morn’s Blog

Hello, everyone. It’s been a while since my last blog post, since someone seems it’s okay to hog Caturdays all to herself. These photos are almost a year old, and before I finished my diet, but I hope you like them anyway. I didn’t take them, though.

  • Shirley

He looks very much like our orange cat, what a sweetie!!

  • Fabrizio Rosano

Funny pictures! Nice blog, congrats! A lot of images. It’s a pleasure to read!

The Skinny Cat Walk

Hello everyone. It’s Morn, in case you couldn’t figure it out. (I don’t know why that woman insists on posting my picture all the time. I mean, shouldn’t she be posting more of her? I tell her this and she rolls her eyes. This is the same woman who thinks the nicknames she uses for me are endearing. Pretty sure if I called her “Fatty” and “Kujira” (which is “whale” in Japanese), I don’t think she’d find it very endearing. Which is actually why I’m writing here today.

I’ve been on a diet since January, and I’ve been miserable. Everywhere I turn is food I can’t have. The counters, the cupboards, sometimes THE FLOOR. But today I “officially” reached the finish line at 12.6 lbs. (I started at 16, which is supposed to mean something too.)

I’ll admit, I have been feeling better lately. You know, playing more, cuddling more, and feeling better about my body image. I guess I could thank them for supporting me through this tough time. I’m just glad we celebrated.
(With treats.)

She tries to smother me to death with her hugs, I swear.
And finally the obligatory comparison shot…

Yeah, I guess you could say I’m feeling pretty sexy right about now.

Cats Play Games Too

Adventures of Sushi Cat

Greetings, bloggers! I just wanted to let everyone know about this really neat game I’ve been playing lately called, “Sushi Cat“. It was recommended to me by my friend Ashling in New Zealand! Sara tells me it’s a lot like “Peggle Nights”, but I have no idea what that is, but whatever it is it probably isn’t as cool as Sushi Cat. I mean this game has everything! Food, love, good music, food, oh, and did I mention sushi?! Plus the hero is a cat!

I’ve been having a lot of fun playing, except it does tend to make me a little hungry. Since I’m on a restrictive diet, it can make playing a bit painful for my belly. But thanks for the email, Ashling! This is my new favorite past time, aside from sleeping and eating!

Sometimes I need a little help working this ridiculous track pad.

  • Ashling

Hullo Morn, my favourite butterball cat ^_^ I’m glad you like the game. Don’t let the diet get you down, you look adorable!

Paddington Likes To Cuddle

Sometimes after a rough day of exploring all you really need is to relax and have a nice cat nap.

Paddy always tries to sneak in quietly for snuggles, probably trying not to wake me up, but I always know when he’s coming.

Still he takes his time and moves super slowly, and of course I pretend I’m still fast asleep.

Because, of course, I like snuggling too. Who doesn’t?

Paddington And The Trespasser

A story by Morn

Paddington felt his little heart tremble as he said, "Um, Mr. Pumpkin?"

But the cat was too busy, it seemed, to hear him. So he tried again, "Mr. Pumpkin?"

Pumpkin replied while his face was still shoved into the carpet of what was commonly referred to as Morn’s favorite spot, rubbing his nose in cat nip. "mmnnnrrWhat?"

Did Paddington have the courage to confront him about his trespassing?

Pumpkin’s purring was so loud it was vibrating through Paddington’s bones, weaking his resolve. "Well, you see…"

Pumpkin finally looked up from the cat nip. "Speak up, please, Paddington."

"It’s just that you seem to be in Morn’s favorite spot… and…" Paddinton hoped that would be enough. That Pumpkin would understand and be curteous and leave. But he had no such luck.

Pumpkin said, "…And?"

"And I think since he let’s you have the highest spot on the cat tree you shouldn’t come here and steal his cat nip stash." Paddington blurted.

He’d spoken before he had time to think. Before he had time to reword it to be more polite. Before he had time to consider not even saying it all.

The purring stopped.

After sixty seven racing little mouse heartbeats (Paddington was counting, you know) Pumpkin said slowly, "You aren’t going to tell him, are you?"

Paddington was silent. He had a feeling he knew what was coming if he told the truth.

He needed to find an escape route, and fast.

It all happened so fast.

"Listen here, you-" Pumpkin reached out his paw in an effort to pull Paddington closer for a heart to heart- at least that’s what he says he was trying to do- but Paddington was flooded with instinctual panic…

And so he jumped.

Pumpkin did his best to try and rescue Paddington from this terrible fall, but he is not much of a hunter, and was too late.

Luckily, Morn had trained Paddington well, and he landed on his feet. Just like a cat.

Purrfect.

The end.

Morn and His Friend Paddington

Morn, my eldest cat, has taken to running away with my camera sometimes. He’s been having so much fun lately that he asked me to share some of his photos and notes with you. I enthusiastically agreed, and thus Morn will be making occasional appearances on this blog to update you on his adventures. And without further ado, I turn it over to my darling cat.

a note from Morn

Hello readers of my person! My name is Morn, obviously, and I’m fat and lazy. But I like to take pictures of things I like. And that includes my best friend Paddington, who is a mouse. And sometimes of Pumpkin, except, if you ask me, he’s kind of slow. Anyway, I hope you enjoy my adventures, and don’t forget to say hello!

catnip

I leave it there in case I want some later. Paddy doesn’t like it too much though.

my paws

This is my favorite place to sleep. Paddy likes it too.

paddy and me

Paddington likes the view, so sometimes I scoot over so he can see out the window.

NOT REAL!

Don’t be fooled, friends. This isn’t a real hamster, (Do you think I’d stop to take his picture?) but it’s some toy that my people brought home for me to play with. I’m not sure what they expect, but only a fool would think this obviously stuffed animal was real! (Paddy agrees with me completely, by the way.)
