Let’s Go See A Film

I haven’t done an everyday life post in a while and it’s about time for one, but sometimes I think our life might be “boring” to blog about. I use boring in quotations because while I personally love our life together, I’m not entirely sure a lot of what we do is necessarily “blog material”. We don’t really go out all that much unless it’s to museums or other things like that. I guess you could call us homebodies. We like to play games, or watch movies at home with our own snacks and comfortable couch, or go for walks around our neighborhood- but I worry all of that might get “boring” after a while for you guys. Luckily for the blog, we actually decided to go out and see a film last week or so- and we saw Contagion. (We also saw the new X-Men film sometime before that, which I adored, but it was pouring so I neglected to document anything other than the lightning.)

Tom and I both have a soft spot for any post-apocalyptic/dystopia/end of the world type stories, and with an all-star cast and hot-potato director we thought we couldn’t go wrong. It ended up just being okay, but our trip to a new theater (and sneaking in our own snacks) was definitely a grand time. We made disgustingly processed and delicious corn dogs and brought pumpkin seeds, and sat in the very back like we like with the arm rest in between us lifted for a closer, snuggle friendly movie watching experience.

I’m curious, where do you like to sit and what do you like to eat or bring at the theater? I’d love to know.

Oh, I love “mundane” days like these — it’s pretty perfect. But I feel the same way, like it’d be too boring to blog about (although this post was not!) so I don’t take pics. But now you’ve inspired me to try and take more shots during days like that. πŸ™‚

Dude. Those clouds are UNREAL! Really really awesome shot. Gets me pumped for fall.

As for the blog content, I think you should just post whatever makes you happy. I struggle with that sometimes, too, and I do believe there’s a certain amount of catering to your audience/potential clients that is important in maintaining a happy blog but… In the end? It’s not your blog if you don’t post what you want!

And movie theaters? I can’t do ’em. I only go see movies if I REALLY REEAALLYYYY want to see the movie… So, once a year, MAYBE! I have some serious OCD problems that I don’t really talk about because it’s more embarrassing than anything else, but 99% of the time there is way too much outside stimulus and I get freaked out and have even verged on tears/fight-or-flight mode on more than one occasion because I can’t handle all the people around me! But when I am able to drag my ass out to see a movie I try to sneak in a baggy of Sour Patch watermelon candies to eat with popcorn. It’s seriously the BEST sweet+salty combo ever!

We are such homebodies too. I would rather be at home! We sit in the back because I have neck problems and there is no way I could ever watch a movie looking up. We go out to eat before the movie starts or we are suckers and buy popcorn and sodas.

Luke and I always try to sit in the very middle of the middle row, although from time to time we end up shunted off to the side. We loved the X-Men movie (Luke is a HUGE comic book fan), but I just can’t bring myself to see Contagion because I know I’ll just end up paranoid for a couple weeks. πŸ™‚ And are you drinking a Pumpkin Spice frappuccino? Because if you are…delicious.

I found your blog yesterday and then spent the whole day reading it until i got a nasty headache and had to rip my eyes away from the screen! Needless to say I really love it. Your Tom reminds me so much of my Colin, I think it must be their body build and looks??

Anyway…it’s always such a drag for me to get Colin to the movies, he hates crowds, so we usually spend our time at home on the couch with our dogs, which is way better anyway!

Cory and I love to sit at the very top right in the middle (right under the projector). That way we can see the entire screen and also people watch! We are total cuddle bugs too and always leave the armrest up!

We never buy food at the movie theater. What we sneak in usually consists of fruit (usually berries), an assortment of fancy olives and crackers, and a bag of delicious surf sweets organic gummy bears that are sold in a bulk bin at Whole Foods.

Bummed to hear that the movie was just okay. I’m a total sucker for “uncontrollable pathogen ruines society” flicks. Usually when movies have an all star cast the script doesn’t live up to expectations. Oh well.

I love the side-by-side Starbucks diptych! A modern, his-and-hers sort of shot πŸ™‚

I’m also a big fan of the “end of the world” scenario movies, so I was disappointed to hear from a few people that it was just okay. Some good snacks and bringing the boy to snuggle might make it a theatre worthy experience still, though! We’re also guilty of sneaking foods in. Usually drinks and candy because I can still never resist theatre popcorn πŸ™‚

You guys are adorable. That cloud photo is breath-taking!

Kyle and I are the same way; we’d rather stay at home together than go out all the time. I don’t find reading about you guys doing that boring at all. Even if sitting and playing a video game isn’t the most exciting thing in the world, you document it in the most beautiful way with your fantastic photos and THAT makes it interesting.

Kyle and I saw the new X-Men and loved it!

You two sound like me & my guy — weekends at home playing games and snacking on yummies is our idea of a good time πŸ™‚ Those corn dogs look totally naughty but delish!
