Sometimes I think “EASILY EXCITED” should be tattooed on my forehead so I don’t alarm people when I gasp about just how incredible the cranberry orange muffin I’m biting into tastes. Or whatever else it is that’s catching my fancy at the moment. (It runs in my family, it seems, and just the other day my dad called me and had me on the phone for three hours while he waited for his new iPad to arrive from FedEx. I can only hope that when I’m 50+ I still find things like this thrilling and exciting.)
But I’ll tell you, my heart fluttered when I found these rain boots in the store a few weeks ago. Tom told me to keep an eye out for “the pair” before our trip to Ireland, but luckily for us it didn’t rain during our three week stay (unheard of!) so I managed to get away without them. But when I saw these babies -it was love at first sight- I tried them on immediately, fell in love, and asked them if they’d like to come home with me. They said yes of course, so I wandered through the store with them on and carried my shoes with me until check out. I’ve been dying to try them out ever since, and do a little rain dance every morning. I’ll even admit to wearing them when there wasn’t a rain cloud in sight.
This weekend Tom and I did a collaborative photoshoot to break them in, he took his first bokehrama (photo #1 is a 4 photo stitch), and I discovered a new found love for levitation photos. I hope your weekend was as grand as ours, or grander!
Photos 1-4, 5&6 taken by Tom.
Photo 1 is a 4 photo stitch.
Photos 7&8 are each a 2 photo stitch.

29 Mar 2012 at 2:08 amHahahaha! I know just what you mean! I get excited over the silliest things. But, to heck with it!
I would have gotten excited over those rain boots too. They are darling! I can’t believe it didn’t rain while you were in Ireland. Must have been Ireland’s wedding gift to you! 🙂

3 Apr 2012 at 12:28 pmI know, we never heard the end of it (about how rare it was)! AND it was in late October. I think maybe it rained one or two days but it was while we were driving anyway so it didn’t matter to us. Quite a lovely experience for my first visit!

27 Mar 2012 at 10:28 pmI get really excited about things too! Pretty shoes, dresses, dogs with scrunched faces and FOOOOOD.
I bit into my carrot cake yesterday and gasped haha.
I see you made bread (I’ve seen other photos of your baked goods) and I’d loveeee some tips if you have any! I made 2 loaves of wheat + bran bread last night and the tops leave something to be desired! Need to practice!

3 Apr 2012 at 12:39 pmWe use a bread maker, so it kind of takes all the difficulty right out of it! When I didn’t though I swore by this method of kneading! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvdtUR-XTG0

26 Mar 2012 at 8:54 pmThey’re so gorgeous! I have an amazing pair of gumboots that my friends made me for my 17th birthday. My friend Emma decorated the left shoe with buttons and glitter and my friend Hollie decorated the right one with painted flowers and butterflies! They’re awesome, but I’ve never worn them out in the rain! They’re too beautiful, so I think I need a beautiful pair like yours for puddle jumping!

3 Apr 2012 at 12:43 pmThank you! And those definitely sound too beautiful to wear out, you wouldn’t want to get them ruined! Things like that are worth keeping just for sentimental reasons. =)

26 Mar 2012 at 2:54 pmI got my rain boots around the same time that I quit my job, and I remember just walking hanging out with Brianne in her neighborhood and then walking home, comPLETELY across town, and thinking to myself, “The world is my oyster…”
A good pair of rain boots will definitely open up the world to you.
Congrats! They’re super cute.

3 Apr 2012 at 12:44 pmThank you! It doesn’t rain as much here as it does in Portland, so I don’t need a pair that can also be used on bike rides or anything else, and I always wanted a pair of the rubber wellies since my Winnie The Pooh days!
