Taking Breaks, Good Clutter, and Real Life Video Game Creatures

After this blog post, I think I’ll be “leaving work early” today so I can do some things around the apartment that I’ve been wanting to do but putting off so I could work. Sometimes I have to remind myself that it is okay to take days off, or to work on something else once and a while. But most of the time, even if I’m taking a day off to do something like deep clean the bathroom in the apartment, I still feel guilty about not doing “work” related things. That said, I have some really exciting things in the works so I hope that I can start to roll them out really soon.

I hope you had a great weekend and enjoyed the debut post from Atlas on Caturday. (Thank you for all your comments, he currently has a little inbox in his Duck Fort where I drop them off. Perhaps he’ll show it to you next week!)

Surprise” (June 25th) Day 176

If you didn’t know this about me already, I grew up breathing video games, and RPGs were my favorite. (Let’s be honest. I still play.) You can imagine my excitement and surprise when I saw a “real life” version of a unique creature from a video game while walking around the Milton market. If you’re unfamiliar with Dragon Age, or the Mabari, here is a comparison so you can see how close they really do appear. The video game screenshot is on the left and another shot of this pup is on the right.

The official prompt for July 2nd was “Kitchen”, but I was away from home and I really wanted to photograph my own kitchen so I swapped words.

I love the way you have all these cute little things on your stove. And I’m super envious of that light that leaks into your kitchen. In mine, there is hardly any light. To photograph food, I have to take it to the breakfast nook just so my photos don’t look yellow.

I think it’s the map back that really did me in for today. I felt woefully helpless to its charms. What lovely collection of delights this one was.

JEEZ! Your place is so clean! We live in an incredibly old building, so some of it isn’t our fault (like, old as in we had to install a filtration system on our kitchen sink because the water was tinted yellow due to old pipes! And old as in we have to spray the windows with bleach now and then because mold is just a way of life in the PNW) BUT I feel like our apartment is a veritable dust factory. Although, looking back this might be the downfall of hardwood floors – I don’t remember living in a dustbowl with any other apt we shared that had 90% carpets. So, maybe a lack of vacuums in our life is to blame? I dunno. We sweep and swiffer pretty often. I just don’t get it!

Also, the park by our place has a huge off-leash dog zone, so I nerd out over dogs all the time and yes, I have spotted direwolves MANY times. So awesome. 😀
