Sacrificial Pineapple, Making Lists, and Under the Weather Remedies

I don’t feel well today, unfortunately. I may have ingested some veggies that had gone off by mistake. They looked find and smelled fine, but I have no other explanation as to why both Tom and I have very upset tummies. When I’m feeling crummy I like to nibble on crackers and soup (particularly split pea) and watch comforting movies on the couch. Unfortunately I have quite a lot to do today so I don’t foresee that happening, but perhaps it might! What do you like to do when you’re feeling under the weather? Any favorite comfort film recommendations?

Here is another update on the spurred project. I figure since there is less than 30 days left (HOORAH) I had better catch you up!

Cute” July 3rd (Day 184) & “Kitchen” July 5th (Day 186)

Horizon” July 4th (Day 185)

Plastic” July 6th (Day 187)

A people without faith in themselves cannot survive.” July 7th (Day 188)

I always struggle with the sentence prompts. Most of the time I feel they are not applicable to me or I don’t know how to take a photograph that summarizes that whole sentence. This one does, though, especially when it comes to photography.

Photography isn’t something I ever thought of myself doing as more than a hobby, albeit a very passionate one, but that is how things are turning out if I let them. If I just believe in myself as much others seem to believe in me, things will turn out just fine. It’s a struggle, but one I’m definitely winning. Slowly.

Sacrifice” July 8th (Day 189)

Melody” July 9th (Day 190)

Expectations” July 10th (Day 191)

I habitually set pretty high (unrealistic) expectations for myself. This transends through everything- how I think I should feel, react, communicate with others, my relationships- you name it, really. Lately I’ve been feeling particularly overwhelmed by my work day expectations. I expect to be able to do way too much in a given day and I feel disappointed in myself when I don’t accomplish them.

It’s something I’m working on, though. I’m giving up on the idea of “multi-tasking” and trying just a set number of goals for the day.

I recently found your blog and have enjoyed looking at all your lovely photos! I totally understand what you mean by having unrealistic expectations for yourself. Whenever I write a to-do list I add way too much to it and it’s usually impossible for me to accomplish all of it in the time frame that I’ve given for myself.

I hope you’re feeling better soon! I usually turn to romantic comedies when I need a comfort movie.

I love that you put your meal times into your to-do list! I do that – “Wake up. Shower. Eat breakfast.” For some reason it’s important for me to have it in there.

Definitely Zoolander or Anchorman for comfort films. I have seen those (and I Heart Huckabees) at least a zillion times, but I’m so used to skipping ahead to my favorite parts that once Chris started Zoolander from the beginning and for a couple minutes I literally had NO IDEA what movie we were watching until they showed Will Ferrell, hah!

Also, I don’t normally keep crackers in the house because they always go stale before I have a chance to finish them, but when I feel sick I always munch on plain tortilla chips and drink lots of water. It doesn’t always cure what ails me but it makes my tummy feel better. Hope you feel better tomorrow!

Love the sacrificial pineapple. : ) Pride and Prejudice is my favorite comfort film. Either the 1995 long version if I need a LOT of comfort, or the 2005 shorter version if I don’t need quite as much; they’re both good.

    b) These are all lovely, and this porject is new and exciting to me. I feel like I have missed A LOT.
    c) You are such a charmer and full of vision. The belief in yourself is such a win, and I couldn’t agree more with how you put that.

I absolutely feel you on setting unrealistic expectations.

Hope you feel better, and take the opportunity to slow down!

Seems like it’s also a great opportunity to enjoy some holiday movies. =)

Whenever I’m ill, I like to curl up in a blanket with a cup of tea and watch ‘My Neighbor Totoro’ (a very sweet Japanese animation about cuddly woodland spirits). I love that film. It makes me feel like a child again, in the best possible way 🙂

I’m glad that you’re winning the struggle for self-belief; it’s a victory that you definitely deserve. I love your photos, and this blog always inspires me to pick up my camera more often, so thank you!

Hello, I just found your blog yesterday and love it. Your photography is beautiful. Happy to have found you.

Sorry to hear you’re feeling sick. I hope you feel better soon. For me, when sick, I like good old cheese toasties and tomato soup. 🙂
