Tornado Watch & Eating Out

When I was ten there was a tornado watch for my local town. I had just moved back from Japan and tornadoes scared me silly, so my best friend and I hid in a closet in her house until the watch was lifted. It was pretty fun though, we recorded our own radio show on cassette tape we interviewed “scientists” about their latest discoveries (10 new flavors of ice cream) and even played a few A Capella songs live too (“Love Shack” by the B52s and “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney. I forgot all about the tornado and wasn’t scared at all. Since then, tornadoes have continued to fascinate (& terrify) me, so when we had a tornado watch a few weeks ago I sat out on our new porch to watch the gaseous monster roll slowly toward us. I knew nothing would come of the watch (we’re just too close to the lake) but it was beautiful to behold.

These are some of the most exquisite photographs of the sky that I think I’ve ever seen. Tornadoes are beautiful, but they must be scary too! Glad you’re safe (and that we don’t get any of these in the UK)…

You lived in Japan? That’s so cool! These photos are all absolutely stunning, but my favorites are the food ones, love the colors!
