Ireland

Co Clare Pier (Part II)

West Ireland stole my heart. (This is home to a few counties, but we mainly visited Galway, Clare, and Mayo). Tom assures me that the rest of Ireland is just as beautiful, and that I’ll be able to see the rest someday, but I have to tell you what I know. Though Dublin isn’t small, it somehow manages to keep a “small town” feel. I can’t quite put my finger on why, but despite it’s bustling shopping streets (especially on Saturday), I still feel like I’m in Traverse City (tiiiiny). It definitely doesn’t feel like Toronto, Chicago, or Boston. And while I really enjoyed Dublin, the west was more what Tom and I were looking for personally this time around. A cozy retreat with the countryside and nature. And that it was. That it was. The latter half of these photos (#4 on) were taken by Tom, obviously. I can’t remember if the last one was taken with his camera or mine.

Gorgeous photos, I’d love to visit Ireland and after seeing your pictures I may have to bump it up the to-visit list.

I absolutely love your photos of Ireland! I’ve only spent a few hours in Dublin, and would love to see more of it! I spent about two months in Northern Ireland, though!

Do you think you & Tom would want to live in Ireland one day?

To be honest, I don’t think so! Though we absolutely loved it, our impressions are that it’s not somewhere we’d like to settle down. Tom actually lived there before we married and it rains a lot of the time. We’re both people who need our warmth and sunshine.
