I took a photograph of my feet in each place we visited while we were in Ireland. It was just for me at the time, a sort of “I was here” reminder. I didn’t share any of them during my posts of our time in Ireland because, well, who really wants to see photos of my shoes in places? But looking at them now together in my little album, I think they’re kind of neat. I may just do this for every vacation! Next time, I will use my 35mm so there is more to see, and take photos of my feet on the airplane and in the airport and maybe even beside the bed I slept in, etc. And, you know, pack more than one pair of shoes and wear something other than jeans. But for what it’s worth, I wanted to share these with you because they make me smile.

14 Jun 2011 at 1:51 pmThis is a lovely series! The continuity of the same shoes throughout really brings them together.

10 May 2011 at 4:58 pmIf you keep the composition (and shoes?) consistent, you could make a wonderful stop frame film of travel shots ^_^ I can already imagine the lovely music you’d select.
Incidentally, I do this too! (Though not as often). A shot of my shoes reminds me of a moment in a way that a landscape shot doesn’t.
Also, I like how you stand with your feet right together. I was taught to do this too, but I don’t unless we have Japanese company ^_^;

10 May 2011 at 1:26 pmWell… If I may be allowed to get ~critiquey~ here, I actually appreciate the fact that these are all shot with the same shoes and the same (or similar) blue jeans in every single frame. Feet/shoe photos can be fantastic things but one reason why they feel like such novelties is because it rarely seems like it’s about the moment and making a great photograph. Instead, more like “Hey, check out my cute ass feet!”
Having SOME kind of constant makes it feel more cohesive, more serious and more of a series. I absolutely love that those are the only shoes in these photos. And I love it when photographers impose some sort of parameters on themselves or their medium (like, every photo in this series will be taken from x distance, etc). It rounds out the idea, and usually the end product is better off for it.

10 May 2011 at 10:52 amThis series is beautiful! I’m amazed at how you can take the most simple ideas and turn them into something incredible. Every photo is gorgeous and interesting on its own (and I am incredibly jealous of the beautiful shoes)
…and take photos of my feet on the airplane and in the airport and maybe even beside the bed I slept in, etc
I am in love with this! I might just steal it for my next vacation 🙂
