Terry Wilson's Miniature Meadowvale

Terry Wilson’s Miniature Meadowvale Part I

I’m not even sure where to begin explaining Terry Wilson’s minature village. He and his family worked together to build a replica village of his local town as it was in the late 1800s, and it is positively a breath taking experience.

Everything is built from rescued wood, and inside the buildings are hundreds upon hundreds of treasured vintage items and finds, some more than a hundred years old. What started out as a hobby has become a delightful recreation of history all can admire and enjoy. I wish I’d had more time (and more sun), but I might make another trip over there if the sun ever decides to show it’s face for longer than a half an hour this week. (See, I told you we don’t always get along.)

I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed taking them. If you couldn’t guess, this is only the first part, I’ll be posting more tomorrow!

My first 19 years in Meadowvale were a gift of childhood. Terry, you were a classmate in our 2 room school.
I stumbled upon this article while trying to find a # for you. I’ll be in touch.

Ok let me add to these pictures, how about a hockey net and some great goals we use to score, or the tennis court and all those beating I would give you. Looks good brings back lots of memories.

As a trained (and unfortunately unemployed) museologist (I still haven’t found a better word to describe what I went to school for :/) I don’t know whether to be completely charmed or horrified at recreated historical villages – a little bit of both I guess? Though at the end of the day I must say that anything that gets people interested in, or even makes people think about history must be a plus!
