It was startling to walk into a room full of birds hanging perfectly still and mid-flight. It was as if time had stopped for every thing except me. The bird exhibit at the ROM ended up being my second favorite (second only to the ultimate dinosaurs & original dinosaur exhibits) because long after I’d left I still couldn’t shake the eerie beauty of that room. All around and above me were frozen phantoms of creatures that once breathed and watched and moved. The only breathing now was the mechanical grumble of the museum’s air conditioner. Surrounded by ghosts.

14 Feb 2013 at 4:49 pmThe bird exhibit at the ROM has always been my favourite. When I went to the Natural History museum in London, England, the birds were my favourite there too. Just something magical and strange about them. 🙂

18 Feb 2013 at 8:56 amAgreed, Joy! I’d love to see the Natural History museum in London too! When Tom and I were in Ireland we thought about taking a penny flight over to London but at the last second we changed our minds. I don’t really regret it because I’m sure I’ll have a chance to visit someday. =)
