A Birthday With Dinosaurs (Part 2)

It was really hard for me to decide which photos would be displayed at smaller resolutions in this post because details like the sharp teeth or tiny bones would be lost in those smaller images. Just so you know thoough, you can always click the smaller images and they will become larger for you. And if you missed the first part of our trip to see the Royal Ontario Museum’s Ultimate Dinosaurs, you can check it out here.

Did You Know?

  • Eoraptor is one of the oldest known dinosaurs, roaming the earth 231.4 million years ago. It’s name means “dawn thief”, which I love. You can see a picture of this bad boy here.
  • Because of The Land Before Time, my favorite dinosaur was always the “the brontosaurus”, but I guess now I should say apatosaurus since the brontosaurus never existed.
  • Stegosaurus had a brain the size of a walnut. It was only 3 cm long and weighed about .2 lbs.
  • Giganotosaurus was slightly larger than the T-rex, with the largest known skeleton being 43ft long and weighting 13 tons (T-Rex was 40ft long and weighed 6.8 metric tons), but had a brain approximately 7ft long, smaller than Tyrannosaurus.
  • The Suchomimus is perhaps an early cousin to the first crocodiles.

The brontosaurus was always my favourite because of The Land Before Time too, haha! Strange that it never existed…?
