Traverse City

Morsels Bite Size Bakery & Gourmet Coffe

Something I dearly miss about Traverse City, Michigan is all the local businesses. Here in outskirts of Toronto there’s nothing but endless chains trying desperately to disguise themselves as small businesses. Unless you’re in the heart of downtown Toronto it’s hard to find gems that aren’t corporate. Not only is Morsels local, but they support other locals too. The flowers in the shop were arranged by Derek (if you watch reality TV, he was a finalist on The Arrangement. Tom and I were also very lucky to have him as the florist for our wedding.) and they sport that friendly warm-small town charm and attitude. As a small town girl turned big city, I miss that friendly chatter. I miss being able to stand (and stare) at a menu for more than thirty seconds without worrying that I’m holding up the line. It’s a wet, cold day outside- and boy I sure wish I was typing this from my laptop; sipping a hot cup and watching the ducks on the Boardman River from the window of Morsel’s little bite size bakery and cafe.

It definitely is! And I like the roses too- and I’m sure that has nothing to do with the fact that they’re orange. *WINK*

You guys should move out to Arcata! There’s nothing but small businesses and cows here. (And so very many vegan food options. I would almost say that eating meat is the oddity out here.) I miss TC so much this time of year. I miss driving around looking at Christmas lights with my mom on winter nights and all of that good stuff.

I’ve been meaning to take Tom to see the Redwoods and Sequoias, it’s just something you have to see to fully take in the majesty of it- hopefully this year!
