The Magnificent Monique

I’ve been struggling lately with sharing on the blog (as if you couldn’t tell) – I was worried that if I shared too many work related photos I would disappoint those of you that have been reading for a while, who are here for more than just work. I don’t want this to turn into a work only blog, but it wasn’t until Tom said to me, “Don’t you think they want to see what you’re up to and excited about?” that I realized he was right. Once again, I’m over thinking the situation. I’m really out of my eyeballs excited today because this weekend I had a photo session in my apartment, and it was a blast. Tom and I went to the hardware store and made reflectors, he helped me pin up my sheer diffuser, and we made cherry scones for the guests.

I was nervous because I’m a natural light shooter, and we all know the best natural light is the light found outside, but I made fear take the back seat. (I’ve been doing that a lot lately. Okay, okay, I’ve been trying it lately.)

The first step was hair and make up, but Monique was kind enough to allow me to share her before picture so you could see her reveal, as I like to call it. Without further ado, the Magnificent Monique

uh, wow! Love seeing your work – I find the work of pro photographers so interesting! Would love to see behind-the-scenes stuff too – like your lighting/reflector set ups & other nerdy details!

Monique is absolutely stunning–both before and after the make up and hairdo!

These photos are so beautiful, Sara! Congratulations on so successfully tackling a new domain. You have such a command of light I can’t say I’m surprised by how well you handled it in your home studio, though 🙂

I love seeing your work photos–keep them coming!

Thanks so much! I was very nervous and unsure because we have such a tight space to work with, but it worked out in the end. There are some other thing I really want to try and I can’t wait to give it a shot next weekend!
