13 Days in Michigan (Day Five)

Sunday was a beach day.

Kat is apparently the master of the castles, and built a huge sand castle. Her time on the beach was spent building, with the occasional break to snack, read, go into the water (book still in hand). Witnessing this moment was, for me, the pinnacle of trying to capture her essence in a photograph. When I viewed pictures on my mom’s phone of Kat’s previous castle, I was quite impressed. According to her, however, the previous castle was better because she put more effort into it. I remember thinking, But you’ve been at this the whole time!

I also did a small photoshoot for Riley for his updated head shots, which turned into a mini photoshoot of Bronwyn and Riley afterwards. Also, if you want to see something eerie (and you do), you should take a peek at this. It’s half Johnny Depp and half Riley. I’ve always known this about him, but as I was processing his head shot photos Johnny’s Depp’s lip kept almost grinning at me. It was really unsettling. So one night when I couldn’t take anymore processing I just whipped this together.

We spent the rest of the day at the beach, took a lot of photos, ate good food, Tom and I both had half of a soda for the first time in a long time. I don’t think either of us finished them.

It was a nice sunny day and the first day we really had to just sit and relax. I can’t remember what we ate but I’m almost positive we slept until eleven.
