Jamie & Ben – Wedding at Sacred Heart

Jamie and Ben were the first couple I ever photographed. Back when I was just starting out with my dinky powershot they let me take about a hundred photos of them for practice. So when I was asked if I would photograph their special day, I was simultaneously thrilled and humbled that they thought of me after all these years. It was an absolute honor.

The wedding was beautiful, with a Catholic ceremony in their home town and a lavish reception in a castle-themed venue hall. I went down with the intention of being in the background catching the moments as they happened, providing a “photojournalisc” collection of their wedding day. (A member of the church staff even said, “I must say, that you and your husband were the best photographers I’ve seen in a church in a long time! So discreet!” Yeah, that’s just how we roll.)

Part of the best man’s speech was, “For as long as I can remember, there’s been Jamie.” You see, Ben and Jamie were high school sweet hearts and have spent almost every moment together after they met. They’ve been together on each other’s family vacations, through graduation, university, you name it. When asked how long he’d known Jamie was “the one”, Ben’s reply was, “Since always.”

Thank you, Mr. & Mrs. Courtade for a truly unforgettable celebration. It was a joy and privilege to photograph your special day. May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be ever at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face and the rain fall softly on your fields.
