Pumpkin’s Blog, Stardate Caturday
I know it’s been a while, but Morn’s been all over his blog lately and I was feeling a little left out. Today I will be providing you with your first Purr Yoga lesson. You might not know it, but Purr Yoga is in fact the most practiced and best form of Yoga in the world. Well, humans may not be practicing it but we felines have been practicing for hundreds of years. We have mastered flexibility, the art of four hour meditation and all day zen (we call it purr)! Some of the poses are pretty intense, but we’ll start with easy stuff today.
The Curl
This is a basic beginner pose. You’ll want to make sure your hips and legs are angled slightly to the side. There is a more advance version of this pose, but I don’t want you to hurt yourself, so don’t try it.
The Reach
Make sure to point and stretch your leg as much as possible. Point your leg up and toward your opposite shoulder and turn your head to the side.
Foot Face
From Reach you can slide directly into Foot Face. Lay on your side for this one and keep your other leg straight while bringing this one up to your face.
Side Strech
After Reach and Foot Face you’ll need to stretch out your spine so just pull back into a relaxed position and hold it for 90 seconds. Make sure your hands flop like mine.
Wait a second. This isn’t a pose. What’s going on here?! Sara’s distracting me!
Hmm, well…. I guess it’s okay…
Purr achieved. Yoga practice success.
See you next time!

28 May 2011 at 3:55 pmI love cat yoga! We have a cat calendar from Chris’s work with ridiculous (and utterly impossible) photos of cats in yoga poses. It’s hilarious.

28 May 2011 at 12:22 pmHi Pumpkin! I literally just finished doing yoga myself. I am super jealous of your foot face pose. I wish I could do that! Don’t tell anyone but I have NEVER been able to touch my toes. I am not kidding you. Not even as a kid. I am slowly getting there though. I think being 5″11 has something to do with it 😉

28 May 2011 at 12:19 pmHi there, Pumpkin! It’s been a long time since we heard from you. Sure, you’ve made an appearance or two in Morn’s blog, but you finally got to update yours AND show us your great yoga moves. It makes a lot of sense now when I think about why cats are so flexible. 😀 I can also see more clearly the close connection you and Sara share. Then again, how can anyone resist you, Pumpkin? 🙂 I hope all of you have a great weekend!
P.S. I like your white paws.
