Spurred

A Fuzzy Hat, Jeggings, and A Lost Girl Tribute

So between all the Ireland, cat, and butterfly photos, I’ve been really behind on sharing the Spurred (a prompt a day) digest posts with you. I guess it’s time I catch you up with me before it’s far too late and then I’m posting a hundred different digests all at the end of the year. Keep in mind these photos were from January, so that’s why there’s snow. Yikes!

Clear

I love it when moments, places, decisions or choices suddenly come into focus and you can see every little detail as if they were drawn on a road map. When I have moments like these, I try to photograph something instantly, hoping my clarity will transfer through.

Broken

When I was a little girl living in Okinawa, this was the first thing I ever bought myself. When I was in high school, my mom accidentally broke it. I cried really hard, because it was one of the few things I had to remind me of my time there.

A few years ago, I saw the exact doll online and bought it immediately. So, no, she’s not the exact same one- but she’s even more special now, I think.

For Christmas Tom brought home a few more and now I have a modest collection. I’ll have to share that with you sometime, too.

Lines

For this project I am trying to take a few different subjects that relate to the prompt and choose the one I like best after. I do this mostly because I learned the hard way in my last 365 project that sometimes if you only take one photo it might not turn out as well as you think it did. It’s also my goal to try and keep this project as reflective and diary-like as possible. I want to try and make sure it relates to what I’m thinking about or ties to my life in some way.

It’s been working really well so far, and while I had several different ideas for “lines”, most of them related to food in some way. I think this slow process of learning about food in relation to health has made me realize that I might just be passionate enough about it to make it a career.

Fluffy

The first two things I think of in relation to the prompt I immediately ignore, in an attempt to stretch my imagination and creativity. So that meant “cat” or anything-related-to-cats was unfortunately out of the question.
(I took a photo of Morn wearing this hat though.)

I got this hat in the boys’ section. I guess my head is small.

Black

Don’t judge! (Okay, judge all you like.) I love my jeggings. All three pair.

Bow

We’ve been watching this new show, “Lost Girl”, because the supernatural type has been my favorite genre since I was a little girl. Ghosts? Vampires? Weres? Fae? Absolutely! It’s my favorite genre to read, watch and write. I’m not sure why. When most girls were picking out their prom dresses I was writing my first Dungeons and Dragons campaign, set in my own world filled with supernatural delights.

I was a little hesitant to watch the show because I’ve been worried how the supernatural genre was going to turn since Twilight. But after two episodes I was hooked, even at the Witchblade part. Anyway, the main character’s name is Bo and she uses a “bow” to kill Fae. It was the first thing I thought of, but it was so unique that I just had to do it.

Oooh. I might have to check this Lost Girl out! I hear ya on the D&D front, the only thing is, my older brothers never let me run my own campaign even after years of begging. These days it’s the “funny story” I like to tell about our childhood: begging for years, them saying no, but secretly drawing up maps on graph paper and writing out plot lines and characters just in case.

Also, you will get no judgment from me on the jegging front. I only own one pair, but I love them to death. They aren’t nearly as awful as the mass public would lead you to think!
