Clouds are amazing. They are so stunningly beautiful sometimes that I literally stop walking, or reading, or working at the computer, and just look up. But I’ve always found it really hard to capture them in photographs. (At least to my personal satisfaction.) But I think maybe that’s because they are so quickly swelling and shrinking watching is really the only way to feel their magnificence. The storm clouds that rolled in the other night were so breathtaking in their ominous presence that I just had to try.

28 May 2011 at 12:28 pmI agree–storm clouds, much more than regular ones, look dramatic and bold. I’ve had a difficult time photographing them, too, because of all of the power lines in my city. Your photos turned out fantastic, and the colors and range in tones are phenomenal. It’s true that an image will never quite convey their grandeur, but you did a pretty accurate job in capturing it for us.

26 May 2011 at 3:18 pmI adore all of your photography (and shamefully, rarely stop to write a comment and tell you so), but these literally made me gasp. You can really sense the sheer power of the storm building in those clouds. Incredible, just incredible.
