Best Weekend Ever

I absolutely love his expression here. LOVE LOVE LOVE.
I wish I didn’t look like such a nutter, but oh well.

This weekend was the best weekend ever! Let me try to sum it all up in one post, though I doubt I’ll be able to, but here’s to trying!

Friday: Packed for our trip to Michigan. Tom’s last day at his old job. Celebrations!

Saturday: Tom and I finally made it to the Pacific Mall. Oh. OH GOSH. It was better than I ever imagined it would be. I was so excited that as soon as I got home I did a video chat with my sister so I could tell her all about it. IT WAS HUGE. We didn’t even cover everything! But the shops were absolutely lovely! I won’t do any clothes shopping anywhere but here. I’m so glad I didn’t end up buying anything online at YesAsia or YesStyle. Clothing angst solved! (No joke!)

I did bring my camera, but I didn’t actually pull it out because it was super busy and I didn’t want to feel like a huge weirdo, which doesn’t usually happen with me, ever. But a lot of the stores requested no photos to be taken, which I sort of expected anyway. SO here are some photos from the mall’s website.

It was a lot more crowded because it was Saturday but I had. so. much. fun! And everything was SO inexpensive. An example, the Matrix shampoo I just purchased at the store was $30 a bottle, one store featured it for $34 for both bottles together, $20 a piece each if bought alone. Yeah, GLAD I JUST SPENT $30 MORE THAN I HAD TO. But that’s okay, because I absolutely know for next time. They had Disney movies, regular movies, and Asian imports galore. Every section was labeled according to where in Asia it came from, Taiwanese Dramas, Cantonese, Mandarin, Thai, etc etc. Every sign was either in Chinese/Korean/Japanese. It was fantastic. I don’t know Chinese differences, but I know what Korean looks like, so I was able to tell what was what fairly easily. There were TONS of food shops, as well as (be still my beating heart) everyday goods. Like house shoes. Mops, soaps, etc. Oh, oh, oh. OH. Gosh, it was great.

I got some new tops, but forced myself not to go completely crazy, because I bought some gifties for friends back home in Michigan.

Probably my favorite top of the bunch. $15. Yep. The sign was $25 but she only charged me $15.

$7

$10

This is the Japanese drama I’ve been watching. =X The name was Akai Ito (Red Thread).
I was considering purchasing it on Amazon or other import sites ($60) BUT they had both the movie and series at the mall. The series was $13 and the movie $6. Oh, oh, oh. The movie has no subtitles, which makes me gleefully happy, but the series does have some English subtitle option, though they are TERRIBLE translations. But the point was to avoid subtitles. And I CAN. YES.

Gosh, I was so happy and on such a high after the mall that I felt absolutely untouchable. Which was good, and then after that we headed over to dinner with Tom’s parents and Granny Ruth and Uncle Tom. This was supposed to be to celebrate both the engagement and Tom’s birthday, which is coming up. Tom’s mother Janet got us season passes to the Toronto Zoo!! We’re both super excited about this. Tom was getting dressed today and broke some silence with, “ZoooooooOooooO!” Hahaha.

Oh, this is sort of random but Uncle Tom kissed me on the lips. I thought it was strange. But I think I managed to cover up my shock rather well. Tom and I had a beer, which was light, and I actually liked it. The dinner was FABULOUS. Brian reaaaally knows how to grill.

Tom let me drive home. YES.

Today: Janet sent us home last night with loads of fresh fruit and leftovers so we ate a fruitilicious breakfast of kings! Then Tom and I went to Mika’s (Japanese Gift Shop) to get some final gifts for our visit and I selected a very cute bag (which I will take pictures of) and I spent a few hours wrapping the gifts and getting everything ready. Thheeeen some tea was spilled in the bag and soaked all the wrapping and the gift bag. Gifts were fine, but the wrapping and bag were ruined. Which is okay, really, the second time they’ll be better. I am writing Tom a letter (that I’m going to sneakily send in the mail to Michigan LIKE A NINJA so that it arrives when we’re there) and will probably (should definitely) go to bed soon.

Tomorrow is laundry, repacking with the new clothes, and finishing up any perishables in the refirdgerator.

Tuesday is Mika’s again for giftwrapping things, picking up Animal Crossing + a random DS game for my sister Kimee’s birthday, a phone call to wish her a happy one, and the first official Yelp meet up downtown.

Wednesday we’re up at 6, out of here by 7 to pick up Bronwyn, which is two hours there and back, and then on route by 9. We should hit hometown, Michigan around 3-5, depending on the border.

GOSH I’M SO EXCITED!!

I absolutely LOVE those tops. I would visit Canada just to go there if I didn’t know you guys. Now it’s just a bonus. =]

Glad you had a great weekend.

The Uncle Tom thing is kind of weird. I hope it doesn’t turn into something, but I’d be careful.

those tops are amazzzzzing!!! And that mall sounds epic.

    You’re such a sneaky mail ninja 🙂
I slip notes into my friend’s pockets when I’m with them, just so they can find them later (Or yell at me later, when they put their clothes in the wash without checking the pockets… :P)

That picture of you and Tom is gorgeous!
